Press Windows key and R at the same time, then in the Run form, type temp and hit \”Enter\”. This will invoke Windows Explorer with your Temp folder open, showing you all the temp files on your computer. If Windows 10 is still randomly freezing after clearing your temp files, try this method. Virtual memory is a combination of your RAM and a portion of your hard drive. It is mainly used to extend your computer\’s physical memory.

Follow the steps below to solve it. If you still haven\’t solved the Windows 10 hanging after update issue, you can diagnose the hard drive for problems.

Windows has a built-in tool for the job. Follow the steps below:. Under the Tools tab, click the \”Check\” button under the \”Error checking\” section. Next, you can choose to Scan drive if wanted or Repair drive if errors were found. If your hard disk drive is problem-free, you\’ll see \”Windows successfully scanned the drive. No errors were found. If you do see errors, you will see this \”We have found errors on this drive. To prevent data loss, repair this drive.

When finished, reboot your PC and check to see if Windows 10 keeps freezing issue is resolved. If some system files get corrupted or missing, Windows 10 can freeze randomly. Microsoft makes it easy for you to get your original system files back. It has an in-built tool called System File Checker that will restore and repair any broken or missing system files.

Windows will scan your system for corrupted files and attempt to fix them. If the scan finds no problems, you know your system files aren\’t the cause of Windows 10 randomly freezing. You can perform a system restore in Fix 3.

Go and have a try. Windows 10 update is reportedly freezing or crashing some PCs and even causing boot loops. The firmware was updated years ago as another try to solve memory issue. Just checked but no new firmware has been release ever since. There is an option to enable uefi. When I do this, the option disappears, no option to disable it or something.

When i reboot, it starts, reboots again, and the option to enable it is again there in the BIOS. The graphics driver that gets installed by default is the most generic display driver, that may be the reason why windows. You may want to download drivers from asus, and install them for Win 8. Intel, AMD, Nvidia..

Posted 18 January – AM. Well, installing the windows 8 driver no 8,1 available did seem to help. Windows still decided it needed to install another driver after I installed AMD\’s one, so I was already dying a bit inside, but it is able to handle it! Computer is starting perfect. I don\’t know if this is now because of the drive verifier or another issue, but the touchpad and keyboard are not working anymore.

I can\’t find a chipset driver on the asus site, and trying to find a better driver through windows update has no better available driver.

Uninstalling the devices isn\’t helping either. Even more, I connected a logitech wireless keyboard and mouse mediakeyboard with touchpad the mouse function is working, I can use virtual keyboard to type, but the normal keyboard isn\’t working either. Any quick idea for that, or should I just reinstall once more and only try the graphics driver and see if it still bricks the keyboard.

The BSOD is happening very likely because of Driver verifier which does the testing stuff against the driver, this is good because now we know the faulting driver. Driver verifier did it\’s job, and now you need to disable it, just reverse all the steps you did in driver verifier.

Otherwise you may try to get the driver from AMD unlikey, since those sites publish desktop editions mostly, but worth trying.

In any case Driver verifier should not stay enabled except to pin point faulting driver and to generate memory dumps. It would be useful to get more information about the hardware, I think this information gets included in BSOD step above.

You do not need to reinstall windows again, just uninstall the faulty driver \”Unistall device\” option , in Device manager, and make sure. I\’m not sure why windows keeps downloading the drivers ignoring the setting though, this is surely something you want to investigate and solve if. I never had this problem with the setting so cant help out with that. Also you do not want to test all the possible drivers with driver verifier, only in cases where system becomes unusable or unstable, such as BSOD or system freeze,.

Posted 18 January – PM. I tried UEFI boot but same as before it reverts itself back to normal. I tried to enable uefi boot and override boot option from within the bios to boot from usb stick. Still looks like it installed in normal mode. Using device manager to uninstall and deleting drivers was unsuccessful.

The internal touchpad and keyboard, and the wireless keyboard are still unable to function. Within the bios the keyboard is working properly. Attached the BSOD log and here is the speccy link. Hello again, I must say I\’m half blind because there is no memory dump file in the collection, and some report is not in english therefore limited for me.. For touchpad, if still not working , you need the one from asus touchpad section :. Posted 20 January – AM. Installing the provided software and drivers did not work.

The chipset downloads look like they all download the same software package. As I began to get more and more frustrated, I decided to go the easy way out and reinstalled once more. Installed the latest radeon driver manually before connecting to internet and So another reinstall and this time again with the windows 8 graphics driver, disabled driver downloads but again it still forces a driver update for the G and M.

But it looks likes it really needs the older driver first for some strange reason as again it keeps running normally. And this time mouse and keyboard are still functioning as normal. For some reason it looks like running the driver verifier bricked it.

For now it looks like I can reinstall all programs and put the user files back. I don\’t trust this machine anymore and I fear for the next windows update, but at least I can give back a working laptop to my friend. With the new install and only the old gpu driver installed by myself all devices are working properly.
